DIY: Fixing your purse strap for less than $10!

In my last post, I talked a little about my purse collection and how I acquire most of my bags via eBay. Most them are new, but I also like to score a great deal on gently used bags. Sometimes, all they need is a little TLC.

Today, I'm going to share a super easy tip for repairing the peeling edges of your purse strap.

 

I recently began using this New with Tags purchase from eBay, and I was super bummed to note that the sealant was coming off the strap edge in a couple places after a few days of use.

 

But never fear! Totally easy AND cheap fix.

What Laura Loves: Studio Design (Apple Store)

I never anticipated how difficult it would be to keep up the pace of my design business while being a WAHM. Thankfully, I've gotten into a rhythm and have been able to meet all my commitments and even accept new customers.

The only thing I miss? Creating things daily.

Here's where my new favorite app comes in.

Studio Design is a micro-design app that encourages designers to create small square works of art and share them Instagram style.

With over 500 (!) free shapes, masks, and fonts, there is no way that you WON'T be able to create something beautiful. You can create fancy text masks or even base your design off of a photo in your library. Each piece is scalable and can be set to a range of colors.

 

If the 500 piece starter pack isn't enough for you, there are add-ons like "Call of the Wild" for .99, which include hand drawn nature elements for you to manipulate and incorporate into your artwork.

Taking collaboration to a whole new level, Studio also allows you to "Remix" any designer's piece, building on their work and adding your own personal spin. You can also share to a number of other platforms such as, of course, Instagram.

 

 

 

 

At the whopping price of FREE, there's no reason NOT to try it out!

Review: Rhonna Designs App

I recently stumbled upon a GEM in the App Store. A gem, I tell you!

Graphic Design Guru Rhonna Farrer recently released a feature-packed design app that will allow the user to create endless combinations utilizing the many finely crafted, intricate elements included in the $1.99 price tag. 

I'm not really big on paid apps, but once I saw the screenshots, I knew I had to have it. I was NOT disappointed! 

According to Rhonna's website, here's what comes packaged with the app:

 All 27 Insta Fonts (w/ 26 designs in each)

29 fab fonts for text

8 photo filters

36 exclusive frames

9 exclusive backgrounds

That is a TON of tools to play with. And lest you think they are just "thrown together," take a look at some of the screenshots I took within the app:

 

It literally made my little Graphic Designer Heart go pitter pat. Naturally, I had to geek out and post some of my work on Instagram:

According to her blog, they're also pursuing opportunities to expand into the Android market, so if you're not an Apple user, hang tight. This product is worth waiting for!

First Fluff Mail!

Okay, so after watching several friends and family members go gaga for the advantages of cloth diapering, I knew we would get on board. I knew it was better for the environment, our checking account, and for baby... But why the hell didn't I know how ADORABLE they would be?

After scoring my first five diapers from Dirt Cheap (Charlie Banana), I decided to branch out and place an order on Kelly's Closet for some covers. My SIL Chloé recommended using covers and prefolds as a cost effective cloth option, so I did a little research and decided on the following for my second purchase:

2 - Rumparooz One Size Covers (Preppy, Pumpkin)

1 - Thirties XS Cover (Baby Bird Blue)

1 - Blueberry One Size Cover (Giraffe)

I chose all aplix (velcro) for this order, because my other five are snaps. Also, using a coupon code for purchases over $60 (MONKEYS), I received a Bumgenius 4.0 in a lovely green shade. I also picked up a Bummies Small Wet Bag, which is pictured above.

Initial Thoughts:

- Loveeeeeeeee.

- Really loving the Rumparooz style. The Blueberry seems HUGE compared to how small the Rumparooz get.

- Love the double gussets around the legs. Seems like a great way to prevent leaks.

All in all, I'm pumped to try them out!
