Adoption: Funds Secured

Let's get this out of the way.... Adoptions are expensive, ya'll.

No matter how you slice it. Almost all adoptions are expensive. I say almost, because foster-to-adopt is usually cheap if not free. We definitely haven't ruled that out for the future.

We are lucky that our private adoption is relatively inexpensive as these things go. We were able to downgrade our goal some after talking with our lawyer, and that helped. We have been fundraising, and we have had a few very kind friends donate money to our adoption fund, for which we are so grateful. Unfortunately, we knew, given the time constraints, that we would not be able to prepare for baby's arrival and raise legal fees in such a short amount of time. So we took ourselves down to the bank and had a discussion with a loan officer.

We were fortunate to qualify for an unsecured loan with great terms and a good payoff plan that will allow us to pay for the cost of the adoption (provided things don't get sticky somewhere down the line).

We plan on continuing to fundraise in order to pay back the loan as quickly as possible. We want to be in a good position financially, since unfortunately, my contract with Masco Bath as a Human Resources Consultant is ending this month. (Laura Prestwich Designs just went full time, ya'll!)

But overall, we feel great about our position.

Thank you all for your constant support and kind words and prayers. When we are stresses and worries, you guys lift us up and remind us that there is hope and that our Father is in control.
