The Meeting: Pt. 2

As most of you know, we were scheduled to have lunch with BMom and her mom on the 4th...

AND we had a great time!

We were able to really talk about the adoption plan, but mostly. We had a great time visiting and laughing.

We are still waiting on a finalized date for the delivery. Just waiting on the doctor who will be doing the delivery to sign off on the July 25th date. It could still change, but we sure do hope to be able to see baby boy sooner rather than later. :)

On a slightly less exciting note, we've been going over finances for the adoption lately. I don't know if I mentioned it recently, but we paid OUR lawyer in full last week. It was a huge weight off of our shoulders. Unfortunately, we have been told to plan for some additional expenses that might be required by the court. On top of that, baby expenses + a lower-normal-paycheck for David last week + reduced work for me = Our slush fund not going quite as far as we had hoped. We are totally okay as far as regular expenses, and we will be 100% okay once we have the baby. No worries! We are also blessed that my business is picking up again. We are just having to revisit our plan on financing the adoption to cover these last few expenses.

What does that all mean? Additional expenses?

We need to prepare for a lawyer specifically for the baby, called a Guardian Ad Litem. Her max fee is usually $1,500 for situations like this. We also both need physicals following placement to make sure we aren't going to croke any time soon. :) Also, we will have some fees associated with travel in the next couple of weeks. We got a preview of what that will be like this week with our two trips to the Delta.

And...We will be headed back to the bank on Tuesday, I think. Please pray that everything continues to fall into place and that we are able to pull together the last $2,000 to $2,500 that we need to QUICKLY proceed with the adoption following placement.
